You approach the sliding metal door to enter the space. It’s heavier than you thought it would be. Your mouth drops as you see the vast landscape of creative real estate. Welcome to my studio.
I’ve been working and living here for the last two years. This was a space I created for myself during the pandemic, which gave me a good amount of time to get everything perfect and comfortable for me and my clients. I don’t know much about the history before I moved in, but I do know the building has been a home to many creative groups and other photographers. The only fun fact I have to share is that LISTERINE was invented here in the early 1900’s, marketed to “women” for bad breath after cigarettes hit the market. Interesting…
Before the pandemic I was focusing heavily on event photography because a journalistic approach to photography felt the most comfortable. With the need to work in smaller and safer groups I pivoted to a more portrait-focused work flow. The studio worked wonders for my creative needs and the safety of my clients. I was able to host and photograph a wedding and open the doors for multiple video productions as a rental space.
I’ve found that I really just enjoy helping and photographing people doing what they love to do most with people they love most. Whether it be a wedding, a band, a video company, an actor needing headshots, a model with a new look, a couple and their fur baby, a family and their 100 year old grandma, someone’s first pole show, an advertisement for your new product. The list is truly endless and that is where I find my true joy and passion within what I do: making what you do look great.
However, within a year this studio will sadly be gone. The studio will be renovated by a company that’s building up the midtown area. They’re renovating the space within this building to be a creative work space. It will be a bittersweet feeling to relocate my business and my home. I’ll share the details of my new space when that comes. I’ve learned a lot in the two years since I’ve been living and working in this studio, and I feel that there’s more growth and understanding to be had so I’m hoping for another studio that I can proudly call my home, much like this one.
Now that the sad part is out of the way, here’s my plan for right now. I’d love to have you and your team, your band, your family, your loved one, your pet, your production company etc. to come in and use my studio. To really go out with a bang. To use every last drop this space has to offer and that’s why you can now find my studio on PeerSpace.
